Human Patchwork
Hi Cuties!
I’m back with another blog post. Human Patchwork? I know it sounds a bit odd! You might have heard this quote before:
"You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with." - Jim Rohn.
While that's a common thought, I believe it goes deeper than just five people. It's not solely about them; it's about everyone who leaves a mark on us in some way, whether it’s good or bad. Let me support my point with some relatable examples.
One of the significant ways this happens is through the way our lingo evolves when we meet new people and engage in conversations. Often, we don't even realise it, but it just organically occurs.
We all have that one teacher or mentor who inspired us or gave us that necessary nudge to boost our confidence during our formative years. They might not even realise it, but to us, they will always hold a special place. That’s a patch, carefully stitched into my confidence.
I wasn’t initially a fan of Prateek Kuhad, but then a friend suggested I listen to "Kasoor," and now I find myself enjoying a whole playlist filled with his songs. Is that truly my taste or did I borrow it? Either way, it's become a part of who I am now.
And remember that one time an aunt commented about your skin, saying, "That's so many pimples, you should do something about that"? Suddenly, you started feeling insecure about your skin and began taking extra care of it. That's also a patch sewn in by insecurities.
So, you see, I’m not just the average of five people.
I’m a vibrant collage. A quilt. A beautiful human patchwork made up of advice, music, trauma, laughter, cherished quotes, and so much more. And honestly, I kind of love that. Thank you for reading, you beautiful patchworks.
Until next time — stay stitched, stay unique. 🧵✨
